The Madison County Planning and Zoning Department is committed to protecting property rights and enhancing property values through conscientious land-use planning. For more than 25 years, the Madison County Planning and Zoning Department has provided resources and assistance for land-use planning and development throughout unincorporated Madison County (properties not within cities). The department assists the public under the general direction of the Madison County Commissioners.

On July 26, 2010, the Unified Development Code (UDC) was approved by the Board of County Commissioners. It has been recorded as Ordinance #366. Because of the volume of the Unified Development Code the complete document will not be posted on this website. If you want copies of this UDC you may obtain these from the Planning and Zoning office. Copies can be obtained for a charge of $10 per disc or $15 for a paper copy.
