Madison County Emergency Management Website

Madison County is always preparing and training to better prepare the community in the case of a disaster or terrorist act. We also offer publications that will help prepare you and your family for any type of incident that we may encounter in our lifetime. The last few years the federal department has issued funding for the emergency personnel to help equip them better. We have purchased a command trailer and also other gear to help prepare our communities.

The County has an Emergency Operations Plan in place and we are in the process of updating it. This will be in conjunction with both cities and BYUI.

As this is done, we will have a public copy to view on this site. We will also announce the public meetings to help us better prepare.

We have a Local Emergency Planning Committee that consist of the elected officials, emergency personnel, local church, BYUI, Red Cross, State agencies, and local business. We meet once a month.

FEMA puts out a publication entitled “Are You Ready”

Copies of Are You Ready? and the Facilitator Guide are available through the FEMA publications warehouse (1.800.480.2520).

Programs that are available:

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations. Using their training, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event and can take a more active role in preparing their community. We have on going classes. If you are interested in have a team, contact us.

Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) works to enhance the capacity of state and local law enforcement to utilize volunteers. VIPS serves as a gateway to resources and information for and about law enforcement volunteer programs. Funded by DOJ, VIPS is managed and implemented by International Association of Chiefs of Police.
